Licensees included from 1866, Joseph Bent, who owned the building. Licensed as a beer house. It gained a full licence in 1872.

1894 Arthur Pougher.
Arthur was a fine all rounder at cricket, played for Leicestershire scoring over 6,000 runs and taking over 1,000 wickets. Amongst Arthur Pougher’s many feats on the cricket field was scoring six centuries, taking a hat trick at Lords against the M.C.C.; taking eight wickets in an innings (three times), 1fourteen wickets in a match (twice), 100 wickets in a season (four times), between 1890-95 and representing England against Australia.
After Arthur, was at the Cattle Market, William Long took over in 1902.
