Langharm Arms cornered Alfred St. and Alfred Terrace.
Typical back street beerhouse, the Langham Arms opened circa 1860. It was ran from c1875 by John Bentley. In 1883, it was still listed as Langham Arms, and John was still here in 1900 but had added a grocery shop in his directory listing.
In 1920 Ann Parkes is recorded as a beer retailer, as many did, as it accorded extra income when set against the proliferation of pubs in the area. This usually relates to an off licence.
