Billson writes in his ‘Medieval Leicester’ notes, that a Talbot Inn in Belgrave Gate paid 2/- (10p) rental to the Corpus Christie Guild in 1493.
1519, the Talbot Inn belonged to the Corpus Guild, so designated after the talbot’s head that formed the crest of the Belgrave family. (Billson).
A 16th century report mentioned the Talbot owned by the Corpus Christie Guild, ‘standing in Belgrave gate where the Maypole used to be set up.’
