Little is known of this pub apart from listings in directories. JR lists Hannah Barnes as licensee in 1840, Thomas Ross in 1862 and George Banton in 1870.

In 1867, George Banton, victualler of Belvoir Castle was fined in August and again October of that year for serving ale at 11-30pm. It was wife, Elizabeth, who served a customer who she claimed was a lodger: in fact it was her next door neighbour. The first time fined 10/- the second £1 or fourteen days.
George was still at the Belvoir Castle a year later as he hosted the Beerhouse Keepers Association here.
