BAY HORSE, 20 CHARLOTTE STREET

On the 1st of February 1840, notice was given of auction of substantial well built house now occupied by the sign of the Bay Horse, Charlotte Street.

The 1849 Directory lists a Bay Horse pub at no 20.

Prior to 1894, there were two Charlotte Streets, one running parallel to Highcross Street, and the other behind Archdeacon Lane at the back of what is now Vaughn Way.

Circa 1894 Charlotte Street, off Archdeacon Lane, became Charter Street.

Sir John Barlycorn is sometime listed as 2 Charlotte Street, but mostly known as at no. 2 Ruding Street which corners it (Highcross Street).
