Owned by Leicester Brewers, Welch Brothers of St. Martins. Welch Bros were taken over by Leicester Brewing & Malting in 1920. The brewery buildings still stand today in Loseby Lane St. Matins.
A meeting of railway signalmen was held here on the 4th of January 1879, after a proposed wage cut of a shilling per week was made. The signalmen were later to go on strike.
The licence on the Rutland Arms was refused on the 21st of May 1917.
