Built in a new street arrangement in 1871 – expressly as a public house – on the North West corner of Cranbourne Street and Allington Street, opposite the Great Northern pub.
Henry White was granted a full on licence on September 1873, as long as he kept the property himself.
A couple of inquests were held here in 1877.
In 1892, the Cranbourne Arms was up for sale, by then in the occupation of Fred Harris. It was again put up for sale in 1895, this time in the occupation of John Boles. The sale advertisements stated that the Cranbourne Arms was now a grocer and off licence, so sometime between 1873 and 1892 the full on-licence was changed to an off-license and grocers.
