QUEEN VICTORIA, 31 CROWN STREET

John Flewitt listed as a beerhouse keeper, Crown Street 1841.  Originally a beerhouse owned by Welch Bros brewery of St. Martins. we do not know if this was the forerunner to the Queen Victoria. There are no listings of it being called the Queen Victoria until-1875 Robert Collins was licensee before he moved to the Warden Arms, Robert Collins was the younger brother of John Collins of Leicester fish-market fame.. Thomas Allen would follow by 1880. John Foster a couple of years later until 1898, Wm Underwood, 1900 Thomas Spence, Phillip Delves in 1906 Purchased by LBM on 7th April 1920 Ben Blow the licensee, listings are sparse from thereon 1938 Harry Abbott Wilkinson. 1950 Mr Webb

The pub was to last another couple of decades and closed in the mid 1960s.
