The pub had taken its name from the then fashionable theme of past war heroes and was built circa 1840. It was also listed as brewing ales in 1870.
Owned for a period by H. H. Parry, who had involvement with many pubs, also Ruddles Brewery. Passed on to the Beeston Brewery Nottingham circa 1895.
In 1907, the licence was objected to, and the Admiral Duncan closed its doors on the 13th of July 1907. Compensation paid to the brewery £1593.00 and £200 to the tenant.
