On the 11th of March 1843, the Leicester Chronicle advised the licensing authorities to take note of this beerhouse as John Garner the keeper had been charged with allowing gaming on the premises with twelve-fourteen year olds involved, the youngsters playing cards and gambling for ale
The whereabouts of this beer house is unclear although Foundry Square is small, so it is possible – but not proven – that it became the Waterworks Tavern.
