Like the Royal Arms, it was built in 1866 but closed in 1912, being compulsory purchased in 1969.
Licensees included from circa 1870, William Thorp who in Sept 1874 applied to change his beerhouse licence to an ‘old type pub full’ licence, his application was supported by a petition signed by 100 inhabitants of the area also the officers of the Spinney Hill Oddfellows lodge. this was refused.
