There are a few references to an Alexandra Arms in Granby Street during the 1860s.
In September 1866, customer John North assaulted a policeman whist being ejected from the Alexandra Arms for being drunk and disorderly. He was fined 21/- or three weeks hard labour.
Later that year a meeting was held at the house of Mrs. Greenwood’s Alexandra Arms, Granby Street, of the Beer House Keepers Association.
This was recorded again in January 1867, although Mrs. Greenwood’s address is given as London Road (possibly indicating the pub was at the top of Granby Street).
August 1867, an advert was placed in the Leicester Chronicle for a pianist for the winter season.
June 1867, he Alexandra Arms was put up for sale, by auction if not previously sold.
The beer house was still going in October that year, but now under landlord Mr. Adcock.
