


in November 1937 the then licensee George Wellbourne 35 was charged with permitting his house to be used for the purpose of betting. The Police with a warrant to search the premises found Harry Gamble taking bets having slips relating to 35 bets, plus a payout book, he was charged with using the Burlington for the use of betting. Gamble 65 and landlord Wellbourne were both remanded for 14 days. (Leicester Evening Mail)
