Recorded in the 17th century as being situated at the top of High Street/Southgates or it could easily be Applegate Street.
1709. Blue Bell recorded in High Street (LRO 14 D57/92/8).
In the 1760s, the Blue Bell was renowned for its sale of punch bowls, dishes, tea sets and ornamental china.
On 19 February 1774, the Leicester Journal reported that the Blue Bell, Applegate Street, had a large room for auctions of mercury linen and drapery.
In the 1770s, the Blue Bell (Bell Hotel, Humberstone Gate) is also recorded.
