The Park, opened sometime in 2007.
By 2010 The Park had become Bonkers.
Two years later, it was renamed the Square Bar. It tended to cater for the cheap drinks end of the market, but like many struggled against the might of Wetherspoons.
After being closed for a period, owners Amber Taverns opened the outlet as a Hogarth’s Gin Palace, on 29 January 2016 – their seventh ‘Hogarth’s’. Others were predominately in the north and west of the country, but controversially, this situated opposite Leicester’s first Gin shop, 45 West, which had opened only a couple of months previous. Leicester City Council were keen to upgrade the area, linking up with historic St Martins and Loseby Lane, as well as the proposed redevelopment of the Market.
Hogarth’s boasted 140 available gins, and soon became a magnet for TV football fans. Together with the Market Tavern opposite, it was often packed – especially when Leicester City were on TV.
