COACH & HORSES, KEDDLESTONE ROAD (OFF EVINGTON ROAD)

One of the few pubs built in Leicester between the wars, this in 1929.  The licence was transferred from the Coach & Horses in Humberstone Gate when Charles Street was widened.

Circa 1993.

An incident occurred in November 2008, when a customer suffered a five inch gash on his cheek when he was slashed by Jarod Yusef, who was found guilty in court of assault.

  1. I worked here briefly one summer in 1989 after moving over from Ireland, first time I had cider and blackcurrant.

  2. I went to school with the daughter of the landlord back in th 1960s – I think their surname was Barnes. Have just looked for the Coach & Horses on Google Streetview, and the image from November 2022 shows the building as the Evington Community Centre, so no longer an “Existing Pub”. The Centre’s website says that it was established in 2018.

  3. Alas now is a Muslim Establishment. The Landlord Mr Patel said that the local residents now all Muslims had harrassed him so much and then made him a riddiculose offer. I know the owner of Blue Star another pub who wanted the property. The Islamic Council of GB said they made him an offer he couldnt refuse. He kept his kneww caps.
