Built to replace the Dixie Arms in St Peters Lane that was demolished in 1966. Landlord John Dores changed name to Dores in the 1970s. It reverted to the Dixie at the end of his tenure and became the Workhouse, then Images in 1994, before becoming an Indian Restaurant.
In January 1993, almost fifty police officers carried out a drugs raid at the Workhouse pub. Various amounts of illegal drugs were found. Twelve people were held on bail. The Workhouse then closed.
Reopened as Images in August 1994, after over a year closed. This lasted less than a year – damage had been done, so it closed and was sold as an Indian restaurant.
