TURNSTILE – F BAR, 95 WALNUT STREET

The Turnstile was a 1970s built pub close to Filbert Street and Leicester City Football Club.  It was very busy on match days, the building of the new Walkers (then renamed King Power) Stadium took away most of the footy trade, eventually forcing its closure circa 2002.

Re-opened circa 2005, as the F Bar (presumably the ‘F for Fox’s-Football’).  Applications to turn it into a nursery didn’t fully materialize, and so the F Bar limped on.

Picture taken side on to the F Bar, April 2014.   It nearly lost its licence that month as the Fire Service ordered a review on grounds of public safety.
The F Bar then seemed to have a new lease of life, with live music, party nights etc.

During the Covid pandemic 2020-2021, when most pubs were shut for over a year, the F Bar kept itself busy adding some street art to the property.

Spotted on ‘Bentley’s Roof’, a Leicester City fan blog, two photos of the street art at the F Bar.  No doubt where their allegiance lies.

The F Bar is still very much open for business as of writing.
