WHITE LION – MITRE & KEYS – PARROT – RAM – CROWN, WEST BRIDGE STREET

WEST BRIDGE

As the West Bridge is part of ‘old Leicester’ there have been many inns and beerhouses over the years that have not been recorded in its exact site.

Other names that appear with the address as West Bridge are as follows:

White Lion:

1560 (Leicester Lib ref 8)

Mitre & Keys:

1560 (ref 9 Most likely Applegate’s Mitre & Keys)

Parrot:

1560 (ref 9)

Ram:

1725 (ref recognizance orders)

Crown:

1739 (ref recognizance-listed as Crown beyond West Bridge)

There have no doubt been many more as there are over 100 names- from the 13th century but no definite location on West Bridge.
