In December 1835, landlord Mr Colton was charged by Moses Pegg of allowing bagatelle in the Bell and Crown. Upon being fined 40/- Colton became very agitated, accusing informer Pegg of perjury. The bench ordered Colton to calm down and keep away from Pegg.
