RANGE – WATERMEAD – BREWSTERS – PAPRIKA, 501 MELTON ROAD

Quite a way from the city centre, sometimes refered to as in Rushy Mead or Thurmaston.

The Range opened sometime to early to mid 1970s, I would have thought a unique concept at the time, a pub and golf range, hence the name, I only became aware of its existence when driving up the Melton Road, without realising a pub stood on the site, since found out it was very popular.

It was later altered and extended circa 1978 into a much larger complex.

This was the scene that I next came across when venturing up the Melton Road circa 1994.

It was now to be rebuilt and converted by Whitbread initially called The Watermead and later on changed to Brewsters, circa 2005 changed again to Paprika, as the name suggests an Asian style bar/restaurant.

The site was earmarked for development, despite objections it was redeveloped into care homes circa 2016.
