Built circa 1879. Situated on the corner of Catherine and Surrey Street.
Henry Hickinbottom became landlord when he applied to the justices to have the licence removed from the Woolpack in West Bond St and transferred to the about to be built new pub on Catherine st, the justices agreed, the West Bond St pub was closed and the Catherine/Surrey St opened. Henry was there for over 25 years before James Henry Genders came in 1908. Beeston Brewery owned and supplied the beer to the Woolpack. In turn became a Shipstones Brewery House when they acquired Beestons Brewery 1922. Greenhall Whitley acquired Shipstone c1978.
During the 1930s Edward Peake (some directories have his name as Frederick Peake) was victular,
John Voss 1944, Frank Peake 1946. Fred Hubbard 1950.
As of writing, the Woolpack is still currently open for business.
