CORONATION, 201 CATHERINE STREET

The Coronation was built in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of King George VI.

In 1986, a plot to assassinate Rajar Ghandi, prime minister of India, was allegedly hatched in the Coronation.  Two Sikhs were found guilty and sentenced to twelve and fourteen years respectively.

The pub is still open for business as of writing.

But just look what they have done to the area, Mark Hall posted this on Leicester Bred and born, dont quite know what to say!!! think its the contrast of colours, at least the Coronation has a more modern shade.

2023 photo (from Jeremy Corbett collection) Asian Grill and bar, complements the area. known as the Coronation Lounge.
