Landlords included Joseph Isaac Hallam 1874, Thomas Edward Mayes, 1886, he had his licence objected to by police due to the house was not properly run, with crowds of drunken men and women lured by the music. John Popple in 1888.

Councillor Popple was involved in a case with the magistrates in 1900 when he erected a 40 ft. wooden structure to serve his customers whilst work was being carried on in the main pub. The problem was he didn’t obtain permission, resulting in some locals objecting to the renewal of his licence. The bench took a dim view and rapped Councillors Popple’s knuckles but renewed his licence with conditions. John Popple died 1901
Ex Leicester Fosse player, Harry Bailey, who kept the Belgravia in 1901 was landlord at the Full Moon in Russell Square and the Crown & Anchor Belgrave Gate, where there is more information on him.
