Had a few incarnations around the 1960s and 70s I suppose the most well remembered was the Green Bowler Coffee Bar mid 1960s a magnet for Leicesters mod scene. Upstairs was another club with live music that also went through various guises. May have been called the George at some point (any info appreciated) Opened as bar for the younger clientele, circa 1990 as Fagin’s. Closed in 1994.
After Fagin’s it was known as Casanova’s, by 1999, as Isla Tequila, by 2002, DV8. Circa 2006 saw another name change, to Onyx.
Reopened as Courtyard Bar & Venue.
I am the owner of DV8 and ONYX closed july 2022 due to Covid. I still own the building and now it’s called Courtyard bar venue.
