ST. LEDGER TAVERN, ELDON STREET/LORD STREET

Stood on the corner of Eldon and Lord Street in the Wharf Street area, close to Lee Street Circle. 

Samuel Bamkin was victualler of the beerhouse listed as being on the corner at no. 1 Lord Street in 1841-1851.

Samuel was fined £1 for after hours drinking in Aug 1844. Samuel and wife Elizabeth was joined by son John aged forty, listed as a Chelsea Pensioner in 1851.

William Lowe was victualler in the 1870s.  Lowe transferred his licence to John Cufflin in1881, Cufflin a year later to Henry Lee.

In 1885, the St Ledger Tavern was put up for sale with a host of adjoining propertiies in Eldon and Lord Street, nine in total in one job lot. Henry Lee was still victualler.

John Forryan was victualler in1898, Thomas Orton in 1890 and Charles Arthur Dawson in 1900.
