GROSVENOR ARMS, 29-31 GROSVENOR STREET

Operated circa 1880-90.

Cornered Lower Grove Street South East of Belgrave Gate, on the right going towards Foundry Square.

1881, John Lemon was classed as a baker and beer retailer of the Grosvenor Arms.

In 1889, the Grosvenor Arms (by now an offie), and bakers was put up for auction.  Its previous occupier, Harry Corrall, who had kept the beerhouse for three years, filed for bankruptcy, having sold his furniture for £3, to try and pay some debts.

1890, George Clayton, beer retailer and shopkeeper.

1898, Richard Calvert listed as just a baker.

This is another example of lack of evidence of holding a full licence although listed and claiming to be a beer house possibly only had beer retailer licence (an off licence)
