According to the 1849 directory 1849 stood on the North West side of the street but could be confused with York Street’s Three Cups.
In 1833, James Webb of the Three Cups was charged with keeping his hours open after 10pm. Informer Moses Pegg’s accomplice (a man named Woodward), swore he knew the time as he heard the St Martin’s clock strike 10 and Webb served afterwards.
In 1859, the Three Cups was auctioned as a beer house together with brewhouse and stables.
In 1861, the landlord was Thomas Dunkin and in 1879 – it applied for a wine on licence.
Closed circa 1929 and changed use to retail.
