LORD BROUGHAM, RUTLAND STREET

Two reports of Lord Brougham, Rutland Street, both in November 1837.  One in LH calling it a beer shop and one in LC a beerhouse.

This related to a fight between two men. Edwin Newbold, a portrait painter was charged by Mr Stevenson over a perceived debt. The fight escalated, spilling out into Rutland Street. The Mayor decided both parties were to blame and dismissed the case, ordering them both to pay costs.
