HARE AND HOUNDS, WOODGATE

Searching through the early editions of the Leicester Journals, we came across a 1765 edition of this auction ad:

“Sale by auction at the house of – Loseby, known by the sign of Hare & Hounds, Woodgate, Leicester. A Public house by the sign of Golden Fleece, Woodgate and five other tennants and a wheelwrights shop set out a yearly rent of £18-5 shillings.”

In the Richard Weston’s directory in 1794, the Hare & Hounds, Woodgate is also recorded. By the 1820s, there was no more recording of the Hare & Hounds.
