Reference to a Bedford Arms in 1876 when the licence was transferred from Henry Preston to Tom Watson, which obviously gives the beer house an earlier date listing. The beer house backed on to Grosvenor St.
In 1883, George Clayton was landlord of the Bedford Arms, eventually George became classed as shopkeeper there, as recorded in an 1890 directory.
