‘In 2013 these cottages next door to the ex Old Castle Inn came up for sale, I approached the city council to see if Steamin’ Billy Brewing Co. could open a micro pub in one or other of the cottages. Nothing came of the meeting and subsequent dialogue, as they decided it wouldn’t be suitable for the area.’

Lo and behold, DMU opened a micro pub in July 2018, in the same buildings,
Like all the pubs it closed at the onset of covid, didn’t seem to be opening again until Sept 2023 when it was reopened by Ben Pimlico Pub Co. Its a little gem, great tourist attraction we wish it well.
