LOCK 42, 2-4 FROG ISLAND

In 2009, Andy Wright, well known local music entrepreneur, approached the local council, who were looking to regenerate the area.  He proposed to rent one of the old industrial units close to lock 42 to add to Leicester’s bar and music scene.  Andy had to give up in 2014 and close the venue down, as no new investment had been forthcoming.

This area, only a few hundred yards from the wonderful Highcross buildings, is today a disgrace to one of the Gateways of Leicester.  With some foresight and a LOAD of money this canal side area could rival Manchester and Birmingham as a place to live and shop with riverside restaurants and bars.  Let us hope one day it happens.
