Recorded as early as 1560.
In the 1880s, it became known as Dining and Refreshment Rooms occupied in 1883 by Jane Boulter, followed by James Chamberlain and finally Stephen Cooper, when it was known as Cooper’s Dining and Refreshment Rooms.
The licence was not renewed in 1900, and the building was demolished for road widening and the new Co-op stores.
