Listed in a 1822 directory.  Edward Bailey licensee since then and its closure over 20 landlords passed through its doors see (JR)s list of licensees

A To Let advert – ‘old licensed public house’ placed by William Stevenson in 1857 records him being the licensee for the previous sixteen years. Brewed its own ale until supplied by Strettons of Derby. Closed early 1930s.
