Piggot’s Directory of 1822 lists Northgate Street, Horse & Jockey.
Auctioned in 1843, again in 1868, owned by Loughborough’s Midland Brewery (who were acquired by Stettons of Derby c1902).
An inquest held at the Horse & Jockey in March 1829 taken from the Leicester Chronicle describes the unfortunate death of a small boy.
In 1830, the Horse & Jockey celebrated the annual St Crispin’s Feast for the Journeymen Boot & Shoe makers.
The Horse and Jockey survived when most of the buildings on this side close to the new bridge were demolished. Closed as a pub in January 1956. Compensation paid, for full list of licensees see J R’s lists.
