HOGANS BAR, UPPINGHAM ROAD

At one time there were four ‘Hogans Bars’ in Leicester, one in Queens Road, Narborough Road, Evington Road and this one was in Uppingham Road – possibly the most notorious one as through its short life had its fair share of trouble.

In 2004, Dhanesh Patel, who with two others had been thrown out of Hogans for being involved in a scuffle, called at the nearby Trocadero petrol station, filled a bottle with petrol and returned to Hogans when it was closed.  He poured the petrol through the letter box and then lit it, causing nearly £5000 of damage.  Luckily the inner security door was in place or much worse could have happened.  Patel received a prison sentence.

Hogans gained a reputation it didn’t really want, and like the other Hogans outlets was to close.
