FALLOW DEER, UPPER CONDUIT STREET/24 MARSTON STREET

John Merriman who held the licence c1900-1903 had been a Lieut in the Royal Engineers having served 30 years including stints in Bombay India, a Freemason of Leicester he left the Fallow Deer to take on a pub in Rickmansworth where he died aged 64, his remains were bought back to Leicester for a funeral at Wycliffe Church.
