BULL & BUTCHER, HIGHCROSS STREET

A Bull & Butcher is recorded in Highcross Street.

The Leicester Journal has a case of John Lewis of the Bull & Butcher, Highcross Street, keeping his house open after hours in 1832. The case was not proved as all the drinkers were lodgers.

There is also a reference to a Bull & Butcher in March 1840, with a notice of an auction of household furniture belonging to Daniel Billson.  The address is given as north end of Pasture Lane, off Northgate, whether one and the same is unclear, but as Northgate is a continuation of Highcross St its more than likely, doubtful if there were two Bull & Butchers in the same area.
